Registering/Logging on

In order to use many features of the website, you must become a registered user. Registering takes just a minute and simply asks you for a username, name and password. If you are a member of ukMIG, the website admin will adjust your user level to enable access to the restricted parts of the website with your assigned login.

Once you have logged in, you can also (if you wish) enter other information in your profile to provide more details about yourself/line of work which other members may find useful.

Personal File Space

All users with ukMIG status have access to personal file space which means you can store pictures and other data directly on the server. This can be useful if you have a picture which you wish to share with other members in an uploaded article.

To upload an image, simply click on "My Files" in your userbar below the ukMIG banner and then use the browse button to find the image location on your pc. When the file appears in the box, click upload to send it to the server. You can also create new folders to organise your files using the create folder entry.

Submitting Articles

If you have some news which is relevant to the community then you can contribute it directly by clicking the "Submit News" link on the right hand side in the Member's Area section. Simply choose which field the news is relevant too, give it a title and enter the text in the box below.

To add pictures, click on the image button in the toolbar at the top and enter the html address of the image between the tags in square brackets that appears. If you want to use an image from your personal file space(see above), then click on "my files" at the bottom and drag the file directly from the pop-up window into the box, between the image tags.

The submitted article will then appear on the front page of the website after being checked by a website moderator.

Problems/Issues

If these guidelines have been no use, you are still having problems or simply want to point out an error then you can either email me at b.r.whiteside@bradford.ac.uk or post on the forum in the Website Bugs/Issues section.
